About our project
Sick or Sound (SOS) is a project of four high schools in Germany, Romania, Poland and Spain and Their students (14-16 years old). It is designed to bind it together disciplines, perspectives, teachers and schools of different nations of the European Union. Starting point is the students' profound experience of being sick and the vital interest in being healthy. Departing from the distinction of feeling ill and the presence of objective diseases, the project will make an issue both of what the students undergo suffering from sickness and becoming sound and of what they learn through the media eg about infectious diseases like Ebola.
The project's first objective is a new approach is teaching Sciences, Mathematics and English. It will foster the general and transversal skills, namely that formulate own SoS topics or to find strategies for getting information or doing research. By the use of advanced teaching environments like workshops, an innovative experimental settings, like chemical release Principles, web-based communication, and teaching tools like wikis or content management systems, project oriented and interdisciplinary learning. Along with the items Directly Referring this performance, having a good and critical look on sickness and suffering or the comparison over cultural borders will Strengthen both classes and schools, foster tolerance among students and teachers, enhance the identity of the Participants as Europeans and promote a better understanding of the human condition under the threat of becoming ill.
The sustainability of the project results will be guaranteed, on the one hand the documentation of our activities, enabling others that emulate what we have done, on the other hand web-based presentations not only of the teaching activities but also of the results and of open projects like a wiki, that are to be used, it worked, Increased and improved by others as a productive ongoing outcome of the SoS-project.
